Thunderbird – Setting up Your Email Account

Setting up Your Email

  1. After installation, select Create a new Account > email.
  2. Click “Skip this and use my existing email”
  3. Enter your Name
  4. Enter your full email address; YourName@YourDomain.com
  5. Enter your password
  6. Click Continue
  7. IMPORTANT!!! Click “Manual config”
  8. Change Incoming: from IMAP to POP3.
  9. Click “Re-test”.
  10. IMPORTANT!!! Click “Advanced config”
  11. Uncheck “Leave Messages on sever”
  12. Click Done.

***If you do not do the steps marked as “IMPORTANT!!!” the emails will not be pulled down to your Thunderbird email client, your email will get full and incoming emails will get rejected.

How to Set Up Addional Emails in Thunderbird

  1. Open the Thunderbird application.
  2. Go to Tools and click on Accounts Settings.
  3. Click on the Account Actions button.
  4. Select Add Mail Account.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Enter your Name
  7. Enter your full email address; YourName@YourDomain.com
  8. Enter your password
  9. Click Continue
  10. IMPORTANT!!! Click “Manual config”
  11. Change Incoming: from IMAP to POP3.
  12. Click “Re-test”.
  13. IMPORTANT!!! Click “Advanced config”
  14. Uncheck “Leave Messages on sever”
  15. Click Done.
